Kunihiro is one of the post-World War II generation of Japanese artists who combined traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking techniques with a modern, western, abstract drawing style. Some of the birds in his more than sixty bird prints were recognizable (e.g., prints 1-3) but most were abstract in shape and color (e.g., prints 4 through 10). Click on a picture to enlarge it. His later prints were usually made as part a series (e.g., the morning moon series, prints 7 to 10). To see more prints by Kunihiro click here.
